Our Mission

Our mission is to implement nature-based solutions at scale through regenerative agriculture and agroforestry.

Mark Shepard

Mark is the award-winning author of the book, "Restoration Agriculture: Real-World Permaculture for Farmers." He also authored "Water for Any Farm: Applying Restoration Agriculture Water Management Methods on Your Farm." Mark has been a farmer member of the Organic Valley cooperative, the world’s largest organic farmer’s co-op, since 1995. He is most widely known as
the founder of New Forest Farm, a 106-acre perennial agriculture savanna.

Trained in both mechanical engineering and ecology, Mark has developed and patented equipment and processes for the cultivation, harvesting and processing of forest derived agricultural products for human foods and bio fuels production.

Mark was certified as a Permaculture Designer in 1993 and received his Diploma of Permaculture design from Bill Mollison, the founder of the international permaculture movement. He teaches agroforestry and permaculture worldwide.

Kevin Maher

Kevin spent twenty years as an independent commodities trader. The majority of his career was spent on the floor of the Commodities Exchange in Manhattan. As his family grew, his interest and awareness of big picture ecological issues also grew. This interest led him to become an initiator of Transition Newton, the first Transition Town project in New Jersey. He also served on the Board of Genesis Farm, an Ecological Learning Center before moving from New Jersey to upstate New York, where he resides today and works to enable proven experts to implement solutions to regenerate our ecosystems and combat climate change through agroforestry.
